Great Hosts!

So I was just sitting in the apartment, working on the computer (actually, I was putting the finishing touches on yesterday's blog), when there was a buzzing, ringing sound coming from the front door region of the apartment. I jumped up to check it out, and saw our landlord and his teenage son standing outside. I greeted them, and they handed me two covered plates. Wow! They were even feeding us! I was really excited to share it with Leah, because I had a feeling it was "real" Italian food, and couldn't wait to check it out!

The first was a plate of some flat things that looked like they were made with two white flour soft shells sandwiching some ham and cheese or cheese and something that looked like chopped spinach, but had a stronger flavor than spinach, so we weren't sure what it was. We hope to talk to them and find out what it was.

The second was a type of sweet roll with what looked like a bit of raspberry filling with a lot of Nutella (think very good hazelnut-chocolate) filling. Very good!!

Even before they gave us the food, we really liked our landlords. We have a really nice apartment, and are impressed with everything that is provided. We also feel very safe because they have gates all around the perimeter. We are very thankful, because we have heard that there are other students that have a less-than-ideal housing situation (actually living with their hosts, and other awkward situations).

The other day I got Leah a rose. The only reason we share this, is because we thought you might be interested in how it was decorated. This picture is after it had already been drying for about 3 days, so it looks a bit wilted, I know.
Normally in the states, the flowers are decorated with ferns and/or baby's breath. Not here. They had one big leaf of some type of smooth plant, and then a couple reed-looking things that they slid different sized beads over. It was really pretty, and a refreshing arrangement.

And Leah really liked it. That's all that matters. :)

Thanking the Lord,

Dave and Leah
